Mid-Michigan Offers Unique, Affordable Meeting Spaces

From Lake Michigan to Lake Huron, the middle part of our state offers one-of-a-kind places and spaces. Today’s blog post will focus on our six partners that represent the following nine cities:

Greater Lansing Michigan Convention and Visitors Bureau 

Home to the state’s capital and Michigan State University, this CVB has an experienced sales team to help plan your perfect event. They will distribute RFPs to hotels and meeting facilities, coordinate site visits and serve as a liaison between you and hospitality suppliers. What makes GLCVB unique are the opportunities it can present relative to Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, attendance building ideas, and local media assistance.  

The Greater Lansing Michigan CVB is in downtown Lansing, just four blocks from the Michigan State Capital. They are an Accredited Organization by the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP) which is an independent entity that defines quality and performance practices in destination marketing. It recognizes DMOs that meet or exceed 58 mandatory and 30 voluntary industry standards.  

Flint & Genesee Convention and Visitors Bureau 

Located in downtown Flint, this area is centered near I-75, I-69, US-23, and I-475. The CVB will help you with the RFP process, FAM tours, transportation options from Bishop International Airport, licensing/permits, and volunteers. “There is a real buzz about Flint. More people are venturing downtown and, quite frankly, they are falling in love with the vibe,” said Tim Herman, CEO of the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce. 

The CVB is part of the Chamber of Commerce which has the United States Chamber of Commerce Accreditation, a program that defines excellence in chamber planning and recognizes Flint & Genesee for outstanding contributions toward positive change in its community. 

Great Lakes Bay 

Located next to the Saginaw River in Saginaw and near I-675, this CVB represents five other cities: Midland, Bay City, Frankenmuth, Chesaning, and Birch Run. It offers an easy-to-use meeting venue filter, so you can find the perfect place for your event. You can submit your RFP or contact one of their meeting experts for more information.

Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort 

Just east of downtown Mt. Pleasant and Central Michigan University, the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort offers more than 70,000 square feet of convention space. Other amenities include:  

  • Two private hospitality suites 
  • One boardroom 
  • State-of-the-art Audio/Visual equipment with onsite expertise 
  • A loading dock for simplified setup and striking of equipment 
  • 39,500 square foot entertainment hall 

Run by the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, the resort does not charge Michigan state sales tax for purchases, however, there is a 6% tribal tax. If your agency is tax-exempt, a form will need to be filled out prior to arrival.  



Considered Reader’s Digest most charming small town in Michigan, Frankenmuth is known as “Michigan’s Little Bavaria”. The town has plenty of charming hotels and the world’s largest Christmas store at Bronner’s CHRISTmas Wonderland. Partake in a class such as a pretzel rolling, strudel making or German wine tasting to add to your fun. It’s only 90 minutes from Detroit Metro Airport. 

The visitor’s bureau is in downtown Frankenmuth. Meeting planners state they have higher attendance in this village than other cities and it can hold events from five to one thousand guests. The staff will help you with site selection, service referrals, promotional assistance and welcome packets that include coupon books. The area offers ice skating, sledding, golf, and walking trails.  

Bavarian Inn Lodge and Conference Center 

This Frankenmuth venue hosts groups from five to five hundred. It ‘s situated on thirteen acres and has more than 15,000 square feet of flexible meeting space with 360 guestrooms and is walking distance to the downtown area. Bavarian Inn Lodge was voted 2014 Best Hotel Meeting/Event Space with 200+ Guest Rooms by Michigan Meeting + Events Magazine.
